The Dendrite Series is comprised of unique monotype prints made with handmade inks, all of which have been lovingly crafted from foraged natural materials picked up from the ground in my local countryside. These materials include oak galls, acorn caps, walnuts, conkers, beech nuts, ivy & mahonia bark. They have been printed on either traditional watercolour papers or handmade rag paper from Somerset.
It is important to note that because my work is made using handmade inks I am unable to offer a colourfast guarantee and as all things in nature the works may alter tone or depth of colour over a prolonged period of time. It is therefore recommended that the prints are not hung in direct sunlight or bright light in order to slow or prevent any significant potential colour changes.
These works were exhibited in 2023 at Stanwick Lakes Nature Reserve as part of my solo exhibition, ‘Nature’s Narrative’.
Dendrite describes the pattern of a stream and it's tributaries when it follows a treelike shape, with the main trunk, branches, and twigs.
